Different Energy Sources
Different energy sources refers to different ways we harness and use energy. They include renewable and non-renewable energy sources. The type of energy we choose is determined by a number aspects, including how it impacts the environment, and if it’s affordable and available.
In 2018 fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, and coal) made up 81 percent of all the energy that was produced around the globe. These energy sources that are not renewable can harm the environment in a variety of ways. For example drilling for oil can cause a huge impact on wildlife and communities. Fracking causes water pollution. Also, coal power plants emit CO2.
Renewable energy, also referred to as green or clean energy, is derived from natural and continuously replenishing resources like sunlight, wind, and water. It’s an excellent way to reduce our dependence on dirty sources of energy and to help the environment.
But renewable energy isn’t just about preserving the environment; it’s also about being reliable and cost-effective. Renewable energy is becoming increasingly popular as a means to power our homes and businesses.
The most widely used renewable energy sources are wind, solar hydropower, nuclear. Solar energy is a method that converts sunlight into energy and warmth. Wind energy is used to generate electricity in many places around the world. Hydropower harnesses water’s force to generate electricity. Nuclear energy generates electricity using the process of atomic fission.
